Depeche Mode 101 The Movie is a fascinating documentary co-directed by the esteemed DA Pennebaker, focusing on backstage realities of art and business during the British synthesizer band's 1988 on American Tour. The film follows Depeche Mode preparing for the final concert of their "Music for the Masses Tour" at Pasadena's Rose Bowl on 18 Jun 1988 while also following a group of young fans who have won tickets to the concert as they travel to the show by bus across America. The documentary focused on what they considered to be their strongest selling point - their live performance - as well as capturing the spirit of their fan base. However the movie does not depict the full Rose Bowl concert, instead only showing incomplete snippets of the band, fans and the concert. A 2003 reissue included more of the concert footage, but as Pennebaker "was shooting a documentary, not a concert film". 'I'm not sure about this. Let's go home', lead singer Dave Gahan tells to the band before they take the stage in Pasadena. Well, he were not sure but it was tremendous, the legendary gig of DM from Rose Bowl, Pasadena California, 18 Jun 1988, a day to remember for more than 60.000 fans who attended to that stunning concert. Enjoy this masterpiece as much as I do.Author: SLEEPWELL13
